Donald Trump is fired up! The real estate mogul and Celebrity Apprentice host announced on Tuesday, June 16, that he is officially running for president in 2016. The star confirmed the news via Periscope after teasing a "major announcement" on Monday night.
"We don't have victories anymore," Trump, 69, said on stage at Trump Tower in NYC. "The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems. It's true, and these are the best and finest."
"They can't get jobs because there are no jobs," he added of America's unemployment status. "I'll be the greatest jobs president that God ever created."
The conservative also slammed President Barack Obama's Obamacare, and joked that he should leave office early and play a round of golf at one of his Trump courses.
Trump's slogan is "Make America Great Again." His daughter, Ivanka Trump, is already behind him via social media, as well as former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Geraldo Rivera
"@realDonaldTrump is more competent, creative, tough, experienced, courageous and bold than most of the announced candidates for president," the veteran journalist tweeted Tuesday. Trump replied: "Thanks Geraldo, you're a champion."
Trump will now go up against former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Senator Rand Paul, Senator Ted Cruz, and Senator Marco Rubio, among others for the GOP ticket. Democratic nomination hopefuls include former Secretary of State and New York Senator Hillary Clinton, and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
