David Beckham been accused of a fashion faux pas - not since the fateful day he stepped out in a sarong.
So the handsome father-of-four walked with conviction when he passed through LAX airport in black slippers on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old fashion influencer and former footballer managed to cut a stylish appearance in all black despite his unorthodox footwear as he prepared to board a London-bound plane.
He drew on many styles for his in-flight image, strapping both shoulders into a youthful backpack and wearing a chain hanging from his belt loops in a throwback fashion.
David paired a muscle T-shirt and skinny black jeans with the sockless look and peeped ever-so-coolly beneath tinted shades.
His new tattoo, obtained while out in the States, gave away his identity, acting as a permanent tribute to his youngest child Harper, three.
David is well known for his impeccable styling, and is widely regarded as one of the best dressed fathers in football.
He was previously ridiculed for wearing a wrap skirt to dinner with his wife in 1998 - something he's never been able to live down.
Though he's always stuck by his sartorial decisions, saying at the end of 2014 that he'd do it all again.
In conversation with ITV's Lorraine, Beckham said: 'Sarongs are great. That's one thing I never regret because I thought it looked great and I would still wear it now.
Having also sampled many hairstyles over the years, David was instantly recognisable by his signature slicked back hairstyle, despite the fact that he travelled without his brood or faithful wife Victoria.
He gathered plenty of attention, having realised his fame in America with LA Galaxy's football team in 2007.
But the star was headed back to London after a few days spent in his home-away-from-home.
David travelled without children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, even though they had been seen to join him across the Atlantic.
On Tuesday night, David spent time bonding with his oldest son Brooklyn, 16, when they hit Hollywood's cemetery outdoor cinema before a late night crepe.
He said beside a sweet snap: 'Amazing night in Hollywood ... Willy Wonka at the cemetery in Hollywood LA , also saw a shooting star perfect night

Cute twosome: David seemed to have been joined in LA by Brooklyn and three-year-old Harper
The father-son duo have naturally been keeping on top of their fitness, all the same, and David even said he would have to work extra hard to burn off the crepe the next day.
The active family were seen to enjoy a hike while out in Hollywood; teenager Brooklyn sharing his delight at three-year-old Harper making it to the top too.
He said: 'Fun hiking with my baby sis' as as picture of the cute duo showed them looking over the landscape, side-by-side.
