Barnaby Joyce says he's going to stick with his stance on 'traditional marriage' and Asia might view marriage equality in Australia as 'decadent'

Asia would view Australia as ‘decadent’ if we embrace marriage equality, government frontbencher Barnaby Joyce has warned.

Mr Joyce made the claim that Asia will judge Australia 'whether we like it or not' on ABC TV this morning. 

His suggestion follows comments from Liberal Senator Eric Abetz that no Asian country has redefined marriage.

‘I don’t think that if you go and pass a piece of legislation that says a diamond is a square makes diamonds squares, they’re two different things.

‘In life everybody doesn’t get everything they want, sometimes it’s a tough game.' 

Mr Joyce said that marriage equality ‘could actually create problems’ because children deserve a mother and father.
