Stephen Colbert surprised fans with a bizarre return to screens on Wednesday - by hosting public access TV in Monroe, Michigan.
The acclaimed talk show veteran took the reins on Only In Monroe for an entire 40-minute episode.
In a deadpan line-up, he describes what he has learned about the area, and deals with a local man's 14-year dispute with Jerry's Frenchtown Bar & Grill.

He then interviews 'a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music' - Detroit-born Eminem.
Since my last show ended in December, I’ve been itching to host a talk show again but my new theater’s not ready yet, so I decided to head over to Monroe, Michigan, look around, and give it a Michigander,' Colbert said at the start of the video as he watered a fake plant.
Referring to the Grammy-award-winning artist through as 'Marshall Mathers', his real name, Colbert warns him that music is a tricky business, and he should have a fall-back.
'Have you thought of carpentry?' he suggests.
Eminem, 42, stares at him before nodding 'yeah carpentry sounds... good.'
