E-commerce to create 50,000 jobs in Nigeria
As e-commerce expands aggressively across Nigeria, the sector may help create over 50,000 jobs within the country in 2-3 years. This was stated by Managing Director of Kaymu.com.ng Evangeline Wiles.
In a statement in Lagos, Wiles said as more and more retailers turn to e-commerce to acquire new customers and increase profit, the growing trends in online shopping in Nigeria means more opportunities for web designers, logistics personnel and affiliated services.
“In the next couple of years, e-commerce is going to emerge as one of the top recruiters in the country with a large increase in the number of marketing and content roles”, Wiles predicted.
According to the Ministry of Communications Technology, the Nigerian e-commerce space has created over 12,000 jobs since 2012 expanding the infrastructure, warehousing, advertising and logistics service industry. This figure will continue to rise due to zealous and assailing expansions, merges and acquisitions.
With the sharp increase in retailers falling over themselves to spruce up their web presence and the e-commerce services they offer, the potential of e-commerce as a tool for job creation is limitless.
Almost all e-commerce companies are using varied marketing platforms to promote their businesses both online and offline thus requiring competent professionals to fulfill their various job descriptions. This growth will ultimately have an impact on the employment rate in allied industries like advertising, production, logistics, and payments, amongst others.
Wiles further stated that Kaymu had grown exponentially in the past two years and its employment rate will continue to match that pace. “The vision that started with about 5 people today has over 150 direct staff and thousands of employees for our sellers in 6 states across the country, thus creating more jobs within Nigeria”, she added”.
The growing e-commerce sector has resulted in a trend in job listings within the country with more than 60 percent of jobs advertised online falling into the e-commerce category.
Khloe Kardashian on Being the "Fat Funny One": "I Would Beat People to the Punch"
Khloe Kardashian knows people have always considered her the “fat funny” Kardashian sister, hence why she would joke about her weight in the past.
“I never looked at myself as the fat sister,” the recently slimmed-down reality star, who shows off her toned physique on the cover of Complex magazine, told the mag in a newly released uncut interview. “Sometimes I would beat people to the punch and say, ‘Oh I'm the fat, funny one,’ because that's what people would say about me. But I never really thought that.”
In fact, despite being vocal about her insecurities throughout the 10 seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Lamar Odom’s ex felt she could never be thinner.
“Looking back, I do believe I was unhealthy, but at the time I really thought that that was as skinny as I was going to get. ?You know, everyone's like, ‘You're big boned.’ I have childbearing hips,” the E! star, 31, said. “Even my producer…who’s been with me since Season 1, which was nine years ago, she said, ‘This is the best I’ve ever seen you look,’ and it feels so good to finally like get to a place that I never even thought I could be.”
Kardashian credits her sister Kim Kardashian for getting her to pose for the sexy shoot, which she admitted she was incredibly nervous for.
“Kim was like, ‘Get the f—k over it, you're at the prime of your life,’ but I don't know if I'm ever going to feel like, ‘Damnnnn you look good,’” she admitted. “Sitting there posing I was like, ‘This is hanging over, I don't know if I can sit in this outfit,’ but looking at the photos later I was like, ‘They look good.’ But I don't know if I'm going to be on a beach like that, I’m still going to be in a one-piece.”
For now, Khloe is getting used to her hot new bod. “I’ve been working out for like a year and a half straight…I’m finally getting the body that I've been working out for,” she continued. “It's a slower process for me. I'm not trying to lose 10 pounds in 10 days. I'm sure I could, but it doesn't work that way. I've done crazy cleanses, I've done s—t in the past but it never stayed. I'm really trying to train myself to know this is how my body has to be for the rest of my life. If I want to keep this up you have to be active."

footage captures a humpback whale breaks the surface of the water with its tail and comes within feet of wiping out boat
A humpback whale came within feet of tail-slapping a boat in California – and the dramatic incident was captured on camera.
The footage was posted to YouTube by Stephen Salata, who explained in the description that he was on his way back from tuna fishing when the close encounter took place.
He wrote that he and a co-worker were travelling close to Newport Beach when they spotted some humpback whales eating about a mile away from the harbour.
The boat could be seen moving slowly through the water (left) when the large tail appeared and swiped the air (right)
Stephen added: ‘I was driving around and lost track of them. What you see is some camera footage taken from another boat. They were nice enough to come over and text me the video.
‘The whale’s tail popped up about 15-20 foot in front of my boat and I had to quickly turn to avoid hitting it.'
jennifer Garner spends day off from filming visiting sick children at Atlanta hospital including boy, 9, undergoing aggressive chemotherapy
Jennifer Garner is busy filming her latest movie Miracles from Heaven in Atlanta, but spent her day off giving back to some local children.
Garner and her costar in the film, Kylie Rogers, visited Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite on Sunday, snapping photos with a 9-year-old named Henry Shepherd.
Henry was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma - a form of bone cancer - last Thanksgiving, and was at the hospital receiving his latest round chemotherapy.
Henry's mother Carrie told Fox Atlanta that her son was thrilled having been a fan of Garner's after seeing her in Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day.
She also described Garner - who visited with the family for about 10 minutes - as 'genuinely nice.'
That was not the only good news for Henry on Sunday either, as it also marked his second-to-last chemo treatment.
Earlier this year Henry had to have surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his femur, which required his foot to be removed from his leg and then rotated 180 degrees.
It was reconstructed so that his ankle can now function as his knee.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with Henry's medical treatments, hoping to raise $100,000.
'This is a marathon that Henry is running, not a sprint. There will be years of medical bills, physical therapy sessions, and prosthesis fittings,' they write on the page.
'With your help this financial burden can be alleviated, allowing Henry to move forward and do many "heroic" things in the years to come.'
Garner's new movie tells the story of a terminally ill child who is miraculously healed, based on the book of the same name.
She has been filming in Atlanta the past few weeks and was recently joined there by her estranged husband Ben Affleck.
Garner filed for divorce from Affleck on June 30, just one day after the couples 10th wedding anniversary.
Affleck was also spotted on Sunday as well, shopping with the couple's daughter Violet.
The two appeared to be buying supplies for the new puppy Affleck was seen carrying last week.
The pair were seen together and both wearing their wedding bands on Saturday as they got ice cream with children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
It was reported on Wednesday by US Weekly that Affleck had begun a relationship with 28-year-old Christine Ouzounian while he and Garner were on a 10-month break prior to their divorce.
Ouzounian was working as a nanny to their three children at the time, but once Garner learned of the relationship she let the woman go from her job.
The pair were reportedly together last week in Los Angeles, and one friend of Ouzounisn she is calling this 'true love.'

David Beckham goes sockless in leather backless slippers through LAX airport for London-bound flight
David Beckham been accused of a fashion faux pas - not since the fateful day he stepped out in a sarong.
So the handsome father-of-four walked with conviction when he passed through LAX airport in black slippers on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old fashion influencer and former footballer managed to cut a stylish appearance in all black despite his unorthodox footwear as he prepared to board a London-bound plane.
He drew on many styles for his in-flight image, strapping both shoulders into a youthful backpack and wearing a chain hanging from his belt loops in a throwback fashion.
David paired a muscle T-shirt and skinny black jeans with the sockless look and peeped ever-so-coolly beneath tinted shades.
His new tattoo, obtained while out in the States, gave away his identity, acting as a permanent tribute to his youngest child Harper, three.
David is well known for his impeccable styling, and is widely regarded as one of the best dressed fathers in football.
He was previously ridiculed for wearing a wrap skirt to dinner with his wife in 1998 - something he's never been able to live down.
Though he's always stuck by his sartorial decisions, saying at the end of 2014 that he'd do it all again.
In conversation with ITV's Lorraine, Beckham said: 'Sarongs are great. That's one thing I never regret because I thought it looked great and I would still wear it now.
Having also sampled many hairstyles over the years, David was instantly recognisable by his signature slicked back hairstyle, despite the fact that he travelled without his brood or faithful wife Victoria.
He gathered plenty of attention, having realised his fame in America with LA Galaxy's football team in 2007.
But the star was headed back to London after a few days spent in his home-away-from-home.
David travelled without children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, even though they had been seen to join him across the Atlantic.
On Tuesday night, David spent time bonding with his oldest son Brooklyn, 16, when they hit Hollywood's cemetery outdoor cinema before a late night crepe.
He said beside a sweet snap: 'Amazing night in Hollywood ... Willy Wonka at the cemetery in Hollywood LA , also saw a shooting star perfect night
Family time: David spent time bonding with Brooklyn while Stateside this week
Cute twosome: David seemed to have been joined in LA by Brooklyn and three-year-old Harper
The father-son duo have naturally been keeping on top of their fitness, all the same, and David even said he would have to work extra hard to burn off the crepe the next day.
The active family were seen to enjoy a hike while out in Hollywood; teenager Brooklyn sharing his delight at three-year-old Harper making it to the top too.
He said: 'Fun hiking with my baby sis' as as picture of the cute duo showed them looking over the landscape, side-by-side.

Police confident they have discovered sunken remains of boat that disappeared with three fishermen on board
Police believe they have found a fishing boat that disappeared with three men on board earlier this month.
An intense search has been underway since the 13-metre prawn trawler - named the Returner - went missing near Karratha, Western Australia, about 800 kilometres from Broome on the state's north-west coast.
Mason Carter, 26, Chad Fairley, 30, and Murray Turner, 57, were on board the boat, which failed to return to port on July 15.
Police believe they have found a fishing boat, pictured, that disappeared with three men on board earlier this month
On Wednesday, police said sonar equipment had picked up 'an area of significant interest', south of the vessel's last known location. Divers will search the area on Thursday.
'During search activities today side-scan sonar equipment on board Police Vessel Delphinus detected an area of significant interest. The area of interest is south of where the vessel’s last known location was, and is within the search area,' a Western Australia Police statement read.
A 200-square kilometre underwater area was scoured after an extensive land, sea and air search failed to find the men.
Geraldton man Chad Fairley was aboard the prawn trawler that went missing
A 'Bring the boys home' GoFundMe page has raised more than $170,000 to continue the family's own search efforts.
On Facebook, Chad Fairley's brother Kane posted his thanks to everyone who had helped and said he couldn't imagine life without 'Wick'.
'I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I have tried my hardest and I won't give up until we find you,' he wrote.
'To everyone that has helped us in our search, weather it be here in person or to the countless people who donated money, I can not begin to thank you enough.
'We have been working tirelessly to find our brothers and none of this would be possible without you all.'

Chelsea saved their best for last on their tour of the USA, beating Barcelona 4-2 on penalties at the end of a spirited 2-2 draw at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins, in front of more than 78,000 fans.
Loic Remy scored the winning penalty after Alen Halilovic had missed for Barca and Thibaut Courtois, the official man of the match, saved from Gerard Pique. Radamel Falcao, who had another 20-minute spell, scored his penalty confidently as did Victor Moses and Ramires.
The penalty shoot-out victory though was less important than the improved performance. Though Barcelona started with a considerably weaker side than Chelsea - who had close to a full-strength line-up – their increased sharpness and cohesion was noticeable in an impressive first-half performance.
MATCH FACTS
Chelsea: Courtois, Ivanovic (c), Zouma, Cahill (Chalobah 87), Azpilicueta (Terry 59), Fabregas (Moses 64), Matic (Mikel 61), Kenedy (Willian 46), Oscar (Ramires 46), Hazard (Falcao 68), Costa (Remy 60)

Subs (not used): Jose Suarez
Goals: Suarez (52), Sandro (66)
Booked: Mathieu, Alba
And even when Chelsea fell behind as Barca, and Luis Suarez in particular, began to shine, they had sufficient stamina and determination to get themselves back into match.
A debut was given to 19-year-old Brazilian Kenedy, still not yet signed from Fluminense but was permitted to play in this game by his Brazilian club.
He impressed as well, strong in the challenge, tracking back well and quick getting forward.
He even directed a well-aimed kick at Adriano early on, refusing to be bullied. Still, whether he did enough in 45 minutes to earn his move was unclear.
Chelsea started well, both Kurt Zouma and Nemanja Matic both went close with headers and the Serbian should have scored from his while Oscar went close on seven minutes.
But, given the run of play, it was no surprise when Eden Hazard picked up the ball after 10 minutes, easily beating Ivan Rakitic and swerved his way past two further Barcelona defenders before finishing coolly.
In a week in which he was described as better than Cristiano Ronaldo by his manager and in which he himself stated he needed to score as many as the Portuguese, it was a promising demonstration of what might be expected this season.
But, despite looking better than at any previous stage of their US tour, Chelsea failed to press home their advantage. There was a delightful dinked free-kick on to the bar by Oscar and Diego Costa should have scored when clean through on 33 minutes.
Slowly Suarez got the measure of Chelsea, renewing old acquaintance with Gary Cahill.
Courtois saved well from point blank range from the Uruguayan on 31 minutes and when Suarez wriggled away from his man to deliver a well-timed cross to Rakitic, Cahill slid in desperately to force him to shoot over.
HOW CHELSEA WON 4-2 ON PENS
SCORED - Iniesta, Barcelona
SCORED - Falcao, Chelsea
MISSED - Halilovic, Barcelona (crossbar)
SCORED - Moses, Chelsea
MISSED - Pique, Barcelona (saved)
SCORED - Ramires, Chelsea
SCORED - Sandro, Barcelona
SCORED - Remy, Chelsea
But Suarez seems to reserve special pleasure for showing up Cahill and on 52 minutes a clever dummy totally deceived the Chelsea defender, Suarez feigning to shoot, which tricked Cahill into diving in and rendered him obsolete on the floor.
The Uruguayan simply recovered his poise to execute a delightful chip over Courtois. Not even the despairing lunge of Zouma could stop it going over the line.
Barca brought on Andres Iniesta, Pique and Pedro on the hour and immediately looked an even stronger unit but it was a younger player, 20-year-old Sandro who provided the breakthrough, breaking down the left, executing a step over in front of Branislav Ivanovic to create the space to curl the ball into the far right-hand corner of the net.
Chelsea did respond however, with Moses, who has been something of a revelation on this tour, incisive on the right.
Ramires should have scored on 79 minutes but drove wide from close range.
Chelsea gleaned their late equaliser from a Willian free-kick on 86 minutes, which Cahill met bravely, heading home but receiving a blow from goalkeeper Jordi Masip to his head as he did so, which necessitated him being substituted.
A fan is held back by security as he tries to get close to Suarez and the Barcelona stars following their defeat on penalties
